Prototypes of the solutions that can be tested with customers to validate the design is ideal. Printouts, mock-ups with dummy data or other types of representation of the solution without the cost and expense of actually building it.
Design is done when you have a validated prototype.
- Produce prototypes of solutions
- Test these with prospective target customers
- Use mockups with fake data
- Aim to accurately represent the solution without incurring the cost and time of building every possible solution
Engineering would have to agree to the viability of the solution, and look and feel has been agreed upon with stakeholders.
